Accreditation commission gives Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital Gold Seal of Approval' ratingDaniel Freeman Marina Hospital has received accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), earning the Gold Seal of Approval, said Cyndee Woelfle, hospital spokeswoman.
The JCAHO is an organization that evaluates healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with national standards, and the accreditation is effective for three years, through October 2nd, 2006, said Woelfle.
The gold seal is proprietary to the JCAHO and can only be used to promote accreditation by authorized accredited organizations, and only for the site which is accredited.
"We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patient safety and quality of care," said Harris Koenig, chief executive officer of Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital.
The JCAHO evaluates and accredits nearly 17,000 healthcare organizations in the U.S., said Woelfle.
