NEW YORK, June 6 (Reuters) - Tenet Healthcare Corp. (nyse: THC - news - people), the nation's No. 2 hospital operator, said on Friday the U.S. Attorney's office in San Diego indicted the top official at one Tenet's facilities in connection with relocation expenses paid to physicians.
The company last December said officials from the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego searched two administrative offices at Alvarado Hospital Medical Center in that city as part of an investigation into physician recruitment and consulting.
Tenet said on Friday the Alvarado hospital may be charged at a later date as a result of conduct alleged in the indictment against the hospital's chief executive, Barry Weinbaum.
